Logistics Plus India Provides Logistics Support for New Bridge Between Sonprayag and Gaurikund

Sonprayag-bridge-projectERIE, Pa. (April 6, 2016) – Logistics Plus Inc., a worldwide provider of transportation, logistics and supply chain solutions, reports that its India Division (aka, “LP India”) played a major role in coordinating logistics for the successful completion of an important bridge in the Himalayan mountains of northern India between the cities of Sonprayag and Gaurikund. The bridge, constructed across Mandakini River, was completed in the record time of 30 days thanks, in part, to the logistical support LP India provided to the overall construction project.

Sonprayag-Bridge-CollageThe previous bridge had washed away twice within the past three years due to unprecedented flooding that began back in 2013. The new, more permanent bridge was sourced and shipped from a New Jersey, USA bridge builder.  The bridge parts moved by container ship to Bombay, and then by train to New Delhi, and then by road to Rishikesh on container lorries. Transshipment by smaller trucks was required for the last leg to Sonprayag. In all, it was a mind boggling logistics exercise carried out to military precision by the LP India team.

The site for the bridge posed many challenges,” said Sundreysh Sarup, managing director for LP India. “The history of floods demanded elaborate logistical planning and execution.  The logistics of transporting a bridge to Sonprayag 250 kilometers from Rishikesh was no simple matter. It took significant planning and great coordination to ensure all of the equipment and parts arrived to the job site on time and intact. I am very pleased the project was a success, which will most certainly give a boost to commercial activity within the region.

Transporting 2 Million Pound Gas Tanks

Transporting 2 Million Pound Gas Tanks

Gas-Tanks-in-South-KoreaLogistics Plus global project manager, Frederik Geirnaert, recently shared another snippet regarding a large, project cargo shipment that he and the Logistics Plus Belgium team are coordinating. After months of intensive preparation and transport engineering, four (4) empty gas tanks were transferred by barge from their storage location to the load out terminal in Ulsan, South Korea. This is the first step in a move that will see these tanks being loaded to a heavy-lift vessel later this month for shipment to Portland, Oregon in the USA.

What makes this move quite special is, of course, the size and weight of the tanks. Each tank is about 95 feet long (29 meters), 75 feet wide (23 meters) and 53 feet high (16 meters); and each tank weighs 2,235,500 pounds (1,014 metric tons)! Now that’s a big shipment!

Logistics Plus continues to support the energy industry by handling big and unique logistics projects for wind, solar, oil and gas companies around the world. The Logistics Plus Belgium office recently coordinated an ocean move of windmill blades from Tianjin, China to the Port of Antwerp in Belgium. This past weekend they unloaded the 18 windmill blades, each measuring 40 meters in length, and transferred them to trucks where they will be ground transported to their final destination in the Netherlands.

Any Mode, Any Time, Anywhere!

Any Mode, Any Time, Anywhere!

LP-Circle-307x290As depicted in the circle image of the Logistics Plus (LP) logo, we have the experience and expertise to help shippers move their goods by any transportation mode, including GROUND, AIR, OCEAN, or RAIL. How did we acquire these capabilities? It all started twenty years ago with our first customer, GE Transportation (GET), a division of General Electric – one of the largest companies in the world. Back then, LP was GET’s lead logistics provider helping them move their products and parts across the country and around the world. Twenty years later, we’re still managing shipments across all transportation modes, but today we’re doing it for more than 2,000 customers and in dozens of countries around the world!

Ground Freight   Ground Freight Transportation

Our domestic ground freight transportation capabilities have enabled us to be recognized by Transport Topics magazine as a 2015 Top 50 freight brokerage firm in North America. Our non-asset ground services include complete less-than-truckload (LTL) capabilities with all of the top carriers in the country, and a full-range of truckload solutions using our network of thousands of national, regional and specialized freight carriers. Additionally, with our National Truckload (NTL) division, we offer select clients the option for a dedicated fleet of trucks and equipment. When it comes to North American ground transportation, our carriers, services and rates are among the best in the industry.

Air Freight  Air Freight Transportation

For air freight transportation, we can handle both domestic and import/export shipment types. We have developed relationships with all of the major air freight carriers allowing us to negotiate the best combination of service, price, and speed on behalf of our customers. Our services include airport-to-airport, door-to-door, and even air charters. We are also a certified IATA cargo agent in both the U.S. and Mexico, meaning we get exclusive access to the top air freight and cargo carriers in the industry. When customers ship internationally with Logistics Plus, they can also tap our full-service Customs Broker Solutions division to help them with all aspects of global trade compliance.

Ocean Freight  Ocean Freight Transportation

Similar to air freight, our ocean freight transportation services are available for both domestic (i.e., AK, HI, PR, USVI, and Guam) and import/export shipments. As a Non-Vessel-Operating Common Carrier (NVOCC), we have long-standing relationships with ocean carriers which allow us to obtain competitive rates for our customers and frequent sailings to and from all major ports of call. We can handle both full-container-load (FCL) and less-than-container-load (LCL) ocean shipments. For international shipments, our customs broker solutions staff is there to help with duties, tariffs, and all other clearance details. For imports, our remote location filing (RLF) status with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) allows us to clear shipments at any and all U.S. ports of entry.

Rail Freight  Rail Freight Transportation

If you’re looking to reduce your transportation costs, rail and intermodal freight transportation are often good options. Not only can we help you manage your rail logistics, we can also help you arrange the necessary drayage services to get your shipments to and from the rail yards. Because of our skills in this area, some of our customers have even asked us to provide dedicated, rail freight logistics management solutions for them (see our Hero BX case study for a great example).

LP-Circle-307x290  Project Freight Solutions

Sometimes our customers have very unique or complex logistics projects that require a “multi-mode” approach to transportation. In these cases, the Logistics Plus Project Cargo division is ready to assist. Your logistics project will be customized for your situation—from a comprehensive, pre-shipment evaluation of potential risks, costs and delivery schedules, to route and port surveys, coordination of proper packaging of components, required documentation handling, and transportation mode analysis. Even if your cargo is oversized or heavy lift, our project cargo specialists can manage it all. Over the years, we’ve transported locomotives to Indonesia; imported solar modules into the U.S.; shipped wind turbines to Finland; hauled tugboats to Kuwait; and much more! In many cases, these shipments all required use of ground, air, ocean, and rail freight transportation – all modes we know how to manage.

If you’d like to request a free quote on your next ROAD, AIR, OCEAN, RAIL, or PROJECT FREIGHT shipment, simply click the button below to get started. We’re ready to help you with your single-mode or multi-mode transportation needs.

800 Containers Being Transported from Malaysia to India for Azure Power

Azure-Power-and-LPERIE, PENNSYLVANIA, November 2, 2015 – Logistics Plus Inc., a worldwide provider of transportation, logistics and supply chain solutions, announced today that its India division has won a major logistics project for Azure Power. As part of the project, 800 forty-foot high-cube (HQ) containers will be transported from the First Solar manufacturing facility in Malaysia and delivered to Azure Power in India.  The end-to-end logistics project will take approximately six months to complete and will provide 140 megawatts (MW) of solar power to the southern region of India.

“We are excited to have been awarded this great opportunity to help Azure Power bring solar energy to India,” said Sundreysh Sarup, Managing Director for Logistics Plus India. “This project is a confirmation of our solar industry expertise and a continuation of our ongoing focus to provide logistics solutions to solar energy companies around the world.”

The new cargo project is one of many that Logistics Plus has handled over the past several years for the solar energy industry. Last year, Logistics Plus worked with another global solar power company on a logistics project to coordinate delivery of three million solar panels to the world’s largest solar panel farm (at the time) in southern California. Earlier this year, Logistics Plus worked on a similar logistics project to manage delivery of solar panels to Central America.
