Logistics Plus to Celebrate 2nd Annual NATIONAL LOGISTICS DAY

Logistics Plus to Celebrate 2nd Annual NATIONAL LOGISTICS DAY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Logistics Plus to Celebrate 2nd Annual NATIONAL LOGISTICS DAY on June 28th

The 2020 campaign is also being supported by the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA).

LP-Blue-NLD-Logo-2020ERIE, PA (June 2, 2020) – Logistics Plus Inc. (LP), a leading worldwide provider of transportation, logistics, and supply chain solutions, is announcing its intentions to support and celebrate the second annual NATIONAL LOGISTICS DAY (NLD) on June 28, 2020 – an annual day to recognize and appreciate the importance of the logistics industry.

Last year, LP formally registered NATIONAL LOGISTICS DAY on June 28th as an official holiday with the Registrar at National Day Calendar. LP also obtained government endorsements from the Mayor of Erie; the County Executive of Erie County; the Governor of Pennsylvania; the House of Representatives of Pennsylvania (H.R. 395); the States of Ohio and South Carolina; and from members of Pennsylvania’s Congressional delegation (by Congressional Record). An additional proclamation for this year is being reviewed by the White House.

“I am proud of our team and our industry,” said Jim Berlin, founder and CEO of Logistics Plus, a former truck driver and 45-year logistics industry veteran. “While we might have started the NLD movement last year, this really is an industry-wide appreciation event. This year more than ever, logistics companies across the nation and around the world, including drivers, dock workers, dispatchers, staffers and all the rest, have really demonstrated their essential importance to the economy by pulling out all the stops to keep supply chains moving, and to get much-needed PPE and medical supplies to our front-line heroes.”

TIA logoThe Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) has joined this year’s NLD celebration by designating June as TIA Member Appreciation Month, a time to recognize the significant and often under-appreciated role of the logistics industry within the greater transportation ecosystem. TIA’s month-long campaign highlighting the logistics industry will culminate in the celebration of NLD on June 28th. Logistics Plus has been a member of TIA since 2011.

“To say it has been a trying last few months for our members and the industry would be a vast understatement,” said Robert A. Voltmann, President & CEO of TIA. “From the massive disruptions and economic impact on the nation as a result of COVID-19 to the recent attacks on brokers by owner-operators over rate transparency, I know it may feel like it’s just been one hit after another. It is important to remember, however, the symbolic role your business and the 3PL industry plays in the national and global economies.”

Logistics Plus Purchases Times-News Building in Erie, PA

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Logistics Plus Purchases Times-News Building in Erie, Pennsylvania

The 50-year building located at 205 W. 12th Street will remain home to Erie Times-News and its staff.

800px-Erietimes2ERIE, PA (May 18, 2020) – Logistics Plus Inc., a leading worldwide provider of transportation, logistics, and supply chain solutions, has purchased the 88 thousand square foot Times-News Building in Erie, Pennsylvania. The building, located only a block away from the Logistics Plus global headquarters at Erie’s historic Union Station, will remain home to Erie Times-News/GoErie.com and its staff, as well as MCPc, its other tenant. Logistics Plus will use the warehousing and dock space in the rear of the building to support current and new customer-related logistics activities.

The Times-News industrial office building located at 205 West 12th Street was constructed in 1970 and Erie-Times News (ETN) will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of its occupancy on June 6th. The Times-News was founded in 1888, and in 2016 it was acquired by GateHouse Media, now known as Gannett – the largest U.S. newspaper publisher in the country.

Berlin comments on WPSE Money Radio

“This is a win-win for Erie,” said Jim Berlin, founder and CEO of Logistics Plus. “As the new building owner, we have a long-term agreement to keep Erie Times-News and MCPc home, here in Erie, where they belong. And the largely unused warehousing space in the back will now be used by Logistics Plus to support our current and future operations, keeping additional work in downtown Erie.”

“The sale of the building was something we were very uneasy about,” said Terry Cascioli, the Regional Vice-President NY/PA for Gannett. “We’re so excited that Logistics Plus is the new building owner, and all that anxiety has flipped to optimism. I know I speak for the entire employee group that having Logistics Plus as a partner could not have been a better outcome!”

“The closeness meant a lot,” added Berlin. “We need more high-end warehouse space.”

The updated mural includes an image of Atlas holding the world on his shoulders with an inspirational ‘Erie Strong’ message.

In anonymous surveys, employee engagement was over 96%, and “challenging” was cited as the top word to describe the company’s work environment. 82% of men and 85% of women in the company see professional and career development opportunities for themselves.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has made this an incredibly challenging year,” said Jim Berlin, founder and CEO of Logistics Plus. “The world has changed and is changing before our eyes, but LP has stayed strong with our employees playing essential roles in helping keep supply chains together, here and around the world. It’s been a true testament to the talent, tenacity, creativity and resourcefulness of our people. I am so proud. Proud of them all.”

Collecting data from more than 2,500 submissions, Inc. singled out 389 finalists for this year’s list. Each nominated company took part in an employee survey, conducted by Quantum Workplace, on topics including trust, management effectiveness, perks, and confidence in the future. Inc. gathered, analyzed, and audited the data. Then we ranked all the employers using a composite score of survey results. The list will be included in the May/June 2020 issue of Inc. magazine and prominently featured on the Inc.com website.

Among all finalists on the list, Logistics Plus also had the distinction of being:

  • 1 of only 45 companies recognized in the large category (250-499 employees)
  • 1 of only 12 companies based in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  • 1 of only 10 companies in the transportation and logistics industry
  • The only company based in Erie, Pennsylvania
