Logistics Plus Shows Commitment to Erie in Ways Big and Small

MyErie-SquareThrough its partnership with Erie Times-News and GoErie.com, Logistics Plus is being featured in multiple issues of the publisher’s Lake Erie Lifestyles magazine. The first segment appeared in the August 2017 issue and discussed how Logistics Plus attracts and retains young talent within the Erie community. The second segment discusses other ways – both big and small – in which Logistics Plus supports #MyErie. The new article is featured in the September 2017 issue of the magazine (which is inserted monthly into the Erie Times-News newspaper). A reprint of the feature, which is shown below, is also available online at www.goerie.com/lifestyle/lake-erie-lifestyle. You can click the image below to see the larger, online version.

Logistics Plus Supports HanesBrands in Hurricane Relief Aid Efforts

Logistics Plus Supports HanesBrands in Hurricane Relief Aid Efforts

Congratulations and thank you to the Logistics Plus Lexington NC team for the great job they did volunteering to help with recent relief efforts for Puerto Rico.  Last week Logistics Plus partnered with HanesBrands to receive and prepare several trailers of goods collected to assist hurricane victims in Florida and Puerto Rico (read more about the HanesBrands donation here).  LP’s role was to receive, segregate, re-palletize and separate the goods for air and ocean transportation.  The team jumped in Friday morning, and five hours later everything was completed, ready, and waiting on final shipping instructions! A big thank you goes to branch manager Tony Holmes and his contributing team members: Judy Lackey; Jennifer Berrier; Janet Tussey; Chad Blossom; Terry Smith; Mike McCrae; and Aaron Holmes.

‘Landshut’ Airplane Returns to Germany with Help from Logistics Plus

‘Landshut’ Airplane Returns to Germany with Help from Logistics Plus

LP Germany returns Landshut homeLogistics Plus, working with its global partner Salco Logistics, has played a crucial role in helping the hijacked ‘Landshut’ airplane return home to Germany. The German airplane, that a Palestinian militant group hijacked and flew to Somalia in 1977, is returning home to Germany to be restored. The plane’s hijacking was a key moment of the so-called “German Autumn” (read more here).

Involved from the early stages, the Logistics Plus and Salco project specialists checked the details of the airplane in Fortaleza and estimated what the dimensions of the parts would be after dismantling. Then all possibilities and various options for transport by sea and air were investigated and evaluated. In the end only two options remained, and the final decision was then made to bring the airplane home in a chartered Antonov 124-100 and an Ilyushin 76TD.

Salco Logistics arranged all handling in Fortaleza during the dismantling and loading of the parts to the chartered aircraft. Logistics Plus then arranged for the handling on arrival in Friedrichshafen and the move to the Dornier Museum where the airplane will be on exhibit.

This is another great example of cooperation in-action, and what can be successfully accomplished by the Logistics Plus Project Cargo team and its reliable partners. Logistics Plus will also soon release a showcase video on the move, but in the meantime you can check out the photos below. Also, you can watch a video of the airplane’s return home here:

Blaine.KurtzBlaine Kurtz, director of aerospace and defense for Logistics Plus, recently attended two major government events: the U.S. Air Force Association Annual National Convention and the U.S. Modern Day Marine Expo. By all accounts, both events were well-attended and Logistics Plus was successful in strengthening our ties with key government and military logistics professionals. Here are a few photos taken by Blaine at the two events.
