Logistics Plus Recognizes 2017 LTL Carriers of the YearERIE, PA (March 9, 2018) – Logistics Plus Inc., a leading worldwide provider of transportation, logistics and supply chain solutions, recently recognized two of its less-than-truckload (LTL) carriers – Ward Transport & Logistics and Dayton Freight – for superior results and performance in 2017.

Logistics Plus, a top North American freight brokerage firm, delivers LTL services through its proprietary eShipPlus™ transportation management system (TMS) – an online platform made available to all of its LTL customers and select freight agents. Its annual LTL carrier awards are based on an internal and external assessment of the following performance criteria:

  • Annual Share of Business and Growth
  • Price Competitiveness
  • Service Performance
  • Billing Accuracy
  • Customer Service
  • Account Representation

For 2017, both Ward Transport & Logistics and Dayton Freight had equal overall scores across all performance criteria. As a result, both companies were recently honored as LTL Carriers of the Year by Logistics Plus. This marks the second consecutive year Dayton Freight has received LTL carrier of the year honors from the Logistics Plus staff and its customers, and the first for Ward Transport & Logistics.

As a global 3PL, Logistics Plus provides a wide variety of diversified solutions; however, LTL freight management was one the company’s first services, and it remains a core offering for us today,” said Scott Frederick, vice president of marketing and LTL carrier relations for Logistics Plus. “Having high-performing LTL carrier partners is critical to our LTL services program. Based on our assessment of 2017 performance, Ward and Dayton both came out on top. I am grateful for the support we receive from all of our LTL carrier partners, but I would especially like to thank and congratulate Ward and Dayton for their excellent service in 2017.

Business Advisory CouncilLogistics Plus Inc., a leading worldwide provider of transportation, logistics and supply chain solutions, is proud to confirm that its founder and CEO, Jim Berlin, continues his 10th year as a member of the Business Advisory Council for the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. As one of the twelve members representing the Erie metro area, Mr. Berlin continues to provide the Federal Reserve with valuable data and insights on current economic conditions for the region. Information provided by council members helps Federal Reserve officials keep their fingers on the pulse of the Fourth District’s economic environment and understand public perceptions of the Federal Reserve and its actions.

Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland Fourth DistrictThe Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland’s Business Advisory Councils (BACs) comprise thought leaders from diverse industries and community development, consumer, and labor organizations throughout the Fourth Federal Reserve District. Members are identified through Bank and community-sponsored events, referrals from current council members and directors, civically engaged Bank employees, and regional outreach. Council members are selected to serve a two-year term and may serve more than one term

Business Advisory Council

Council members are individuals who contribute to discussions on the business and economic conditions in their regions. Each participant is senior in his or her organization and conversant about his or her firm and the broader industry or environment in which the firm operates. All members are active and engaged in their communities, and they understand and are able to articulate how economic conditions affect their regions and communities. Members are selected without discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, sex, or national origin.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland is one of 12 Reserve Banks that together with the Board of Governors in Washington DC and the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) comprise the Federal Reserve System, which was created by Congress to provide the nation with a safer, more flexible, and more stable monetary and financial system. As the US central bank, the Federal Reserve formulates and implements monetary policy—the actions undertaken by a central bank to influence the availability and cost of money and credit to help promote national economic goals—provides payment services to financial institutions and the US government, and supervises banking and other financial institutions.

Jim Berlin Featured in 2018 State of Entrepreneurship Address

Jim Berlin, founder and CEO of Logistics Plus, was featured alongside other successful entrepreneurs in the Ninth Annual State of Entrepreneurship Address presented by the Kauffman Foundation. You can watch a replay of the video here (Jim appears around the 12:00 mark in a showcase video shown at the event).

Too many are left out of our economy. The long-term decline in entrepreneurship has dragged down productivity, wages and living standards for all Americans. Put simply—fewer startups mean a lower quality of life. We need to eliminate barriers for anyone who has an idea to start and grow a business, and we need to redefine the meaning of “entrepreneur.” This is how we work toward a new, inclusive and empowering economy.
