FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Today, June 28th, is NATIONAL LOGISTICS DAY!

A day to recognize and appreciate the importance of the logistics industry.

NLD_logo_v3ERIE, PA. (June 28, 2019) – As previously announced by Logistics Plus Inc., and as recognized by the Registrar at National Day Calendar, today, June 28th, is NATIONAL LOGISTICS DAY – a new annual day to recognize and appreciate the importance of the logistics industry in both our national and global economies.

In addition to National Day Calendar registration, U.S. Senator Patrick Toomey and Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf both offered their unwavering support for NATIONAL LOGISTICS DAY. Earlier this month, Pennsylvania Representatives Robert Merski, Patrick Harkins, and Ryan Bizzarro co-sponsored a unanimously approved resolution within the PA House of Representatives to officially honor NATIONAL LOGISTICS DAY. Other states, including the State of Ohio, have offered similar support.

Logistics accounts for nearly 8% of everything we make and sell in the United States. That includes packaging, warehousing, shipping, and more. More than 50 million people are employed worldwide in the field of logistics! The third-party logistics (3PL) industry – those that help businesses efficiently manage logistics across their supply chains (from 3PLs to truckers to warehouse managers) – represents an $800 billion industry on its own.

2019 Best of Varsity Cup Awards Recap

For the third consecutive year, Logistics Plus was a proud sponsor of the Best of Varsity Cup Awards at the Bayfront Convention Center in Erie, PA. Logistics Plus joined the Erie Times-News (GoErie.com), and many others, to celebrate and honor the accomplishments of the 2018-2019 all-area high school student athletes from 45 high schools across 8 counties in 24 sports. The awards banquet serves as a way to say thank you to the thousands of outstanding high school athletes, coaches, and fans who allow Erie Times-News to share their stories, performances, and passions. As a presenting sponsor for the event, Logistics Plus had a number of employees present, along with our special guests from the Barber National Institute.

The evening included a nice dinner, awards ceremony, and presentation by Buffalo Bills legend and Hall-of-Famer, Jim Kelly. Before the event, Jim Kelly paid a visit to the Logistics Plus Global Headquarters at Union Station to meet with some of our very own cancer survivors and super-fans. What was the takeaway of the night from Jim Kelly? “Make a difference today for someone who is fighting for their tomorrow.

The following video message from our CEO, Jim Berlin, and employees was shown at the beginning of the ceremony. Photographs from the event posted on the Logistics Plus Flickr Page can also be seen below.

Logistics Plus Receives 2019 Top Supply Chain Projects Award

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Logistics Plus Receives 2019 Supply & Demand Chain Executive SDCE 100 Top Supply Chain Projects Award

Recognition earned for increasing supply chain visibility and improving routing reliability for a Fortune 100 global manufacturer.

SDC100Logo_2019ERIE, PA. (June 25, 2019) – Logistics Plus Inc., a leading worldwide provider of transportation, logistics and supply chain solutions, is proud to announce it has been selected by Supply & Demand Chain Executive, the executive’s user manual for successful supply and demand chain transformation, as a recipient of a 2019 “SDCE 100” Top Supply Chain Projects Award. This is the third time in the past four years that Logistics Plus has been honored with an award.

The SDCE 100 is an annual list of 100 great supply chain projects. These projects can serve as a map for supply chain executives who are looking for new opportunities to drive improvement in their own operations, and they show how supply chain solution and service providers help their customers and clients achieve supply chain excellence and prepare their supply chains for success.

The supply chain project submitted by Logistics Plus that earned this year’s recognition involved the successful implementation of new supply chain processes for a Fortune 100 aerospace manufacturer that increased supply chain visibility, improved routing reliability, and increased network velocity by almost five days. In less than 30 days, Logistics Plus worked with its client to map out and isolate individual supply chain processes. Local teams were created to coordinate routings between suppliers and carriers, and to capture important data points for continuous improvement. As a result, the customer can now view business intelligence through live dashboards that show aggregate trends to help identify the root causes of delays in transportation.

“Every year our list of submissions for the SDCE 100 continues to grow as more companies rely on the expertise of supply management for innovative decision-making. Our winners raise the bar for what is achievable in the supply chain,” says John R. Yuva, editor for Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “With a variety of company sizes and industry sectors represented, our Top 100 are leading examples for how to approach and solve supply chain challenges. Congratulations to our 2019 winners and the projects that delivered greater operational efficiencies and bottom-line results across the supply chain.”

“Logistics is in our DNA, and these are the sorts of things we do for our customers every day,” said Jim Berlin, founder and CEO of Logistics Plus. “I am very proud of our award-winning solutions team. Thank you to Supply & Demand Chain Executive for recognizing us, once again, with one of their top supply chain awards.”

Logistics Plus Introduces New, Instant Shippers Interest Cargo Insurance Options for eShipPlus

Logistics Plus Introduces New, Instant Shippers Interest Cargo Insurance Options for eShipPlus

Logistics Plus is pleased to announce a new feature for its eShipPlus™ transportation management system. Beginning Monday, June 24th, Logistics Plus customers and users of eShipPlus will be able to view instant low-cost shippers’ interest cargo insurance options as part of every less-than-truckload (LTL) freight quote. It is not uncommon to find that the included carrier liability coverage is less than the actual value of the goods being shipped, so having visibility to liability limits and access to low-cost cargo insurance will provide extraordinary value to shippers (see article “Carrier Liability and Cargo Insurance – What’s the Difference?“).

To see the new shippers’ interest cargo insurance options (brokered by Marsh USA), eShipPlus users will just need to provide the value of each item in their shipment when performing a quote using the Estimate LTL Rate or Rate And Schedule menu options (see box below).

eShipPlus will then include the estimated maximum carrier liability limits plus a shippers’ interest cargo quote for each available LTL carrier as part of the Rate Selection results.

  1. This is the area where the LTL carrier’s estimated maximum liability limits will be provided. The liability limit will depend upon whether you are shipping new or used goods. This is an estimate only based on the shipment weight and freight classification and is often subject to deductibles, rules, and exceptions.
  2. This is the area where the shippers’ interest insurance quote will be provided. Per industry standards, this quote covers the full value of the shipment, the transportation cost, plus 10%. Cargo insurance is not subject to a deductible and will cover the full value of the amount insured (click Detail[+] to see the footnote, value of coverage, and terms and conditions).
  3. Click [+] next to the total quote amount to see line item details, including the new shippers’ interest insurance option included in your freight quote.

As always, current, new, or prospective eShipPlus customers and users that have questions regarding carrier liability limits or cargo insurance can contact the Logistics Plus North American Division (NAD) freight experts at nadops@logisticsplus.com or complete our online Contact Us form by clicking the button below.
